Postpartum weight loss..,

I new when I got pregnant I would gain weight. I've struggled my whole life with my weight. I'm just having such a hard time losing it! I've had my thyroid checked, it's normal. I'm still having some hormone issues I think. Can that keep you from losing the extra weight? It's really got me down lately. I'm just wondering how long it took you mom's to lose the weight after having your babies. How do you keep from getting depressed about it?

  1. Lift those weights! Muscle burns fat and speeds up your metabolism. Let me know if you want to borrow my dvd again.

  2. I wish I had all the answers! I'm feeling the worst I've ever felt about my weight right now. It sucks!

Hormones can definitely affect weight loss, though. And if you're taking any medication, that can do it, too.

    My only advice would be:

Baby steps, like even a short walk once a day

Keep track of calories each day with a free tool online

Pick something you like about your self and say it out loud at least once per day

  3. Hormones can definitely make it harder to lose the weight. I'm 9 months out and still not back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I'm getting closer! How do I keep from getting depressed about it, don't wear any pants or skirt that have actual number sizes! LOL!! I wear lots of stretch skirts and gauchos that only come in S, M, or L. I figure once I get down to a size number I am happy with then I'll go buy new stuff! Plus I'm trying to workout most days while the baby naps and that alone makes me feel better!

  4. I lost my weight fast but that's only because I have a hard time eating when I'm depressed and I was really depressed! Not a healthy way to do it. Clearly not eating enough because you're super depressed is not a good way to do it, but I did find that putting my little one in a front carrier and going for a long brisk walk everyday also made the weight come off really fast. Your baby is really young still, isn't he? I'm pretty sure it's normal to take at least 8-9 months to get back to your normal weight. I bet you're doing just fine. Hugs to you!
